Who are we?
The Vineyard Movement
The Vineyard movement started in 1974 as a small Bible study group, which quickly grew into a church. At that time Kenn and Joannie Gulliksen (formerly associated with FourSquare/Calvary Chapel of “Jesus Revolution” fame) were the pastors/church planters of what became the Association of Vineyard churches.
In 1982 John Wimber was asked to take over leadership of what was quickly becoming a movement, leading the Vineyard until his passing in 1997.
At present there are around 2,500 churches in 95 countries.
Vineyard Tanzania
In Tanzania, Vineyard started in Dar Es Salaam in 2001, expanding over the years to Morogoro, Iringa, Dodoma, Mwanza and Arusha.
The Tanzanian national coordinator is Anold Luhwago, who pastors a church and ministry resource center in Mkwawa, Iringa.
Arusha Vineyard
Arusha Vineyard started in 2004, planted by Gary and Judy Woods, long-term missionaries in East Africa. The church was team-led until 2009, when David and Judi Owens were asked to provide pastoral leadership.
Our distinctives
Vineyard places a high priority on the practical expression of the Kingdom of God, authentic worship, reconciled relationships, healing, equipping the people for all-sector ministry, caring for the poor and uncompromising unity in the Body of Christ.
