What does vsm stand for?

Vineyard School of Ministry

Vineyard provides a certificate and eventually a diploma course which is conducted in English and Swahili. It is primarily to educate our Vineyard tz pastors to understand Vineyard DNA which is grace based- participatory- compassion and learning centred with servant leaders. However, It’s open to everyone. Anyone who wants to learn.
What are our distinctives? We use middle eastern and African methods and our reference material is using African theologians. This is closer to the biblical context than western education methods. Africa understands the topics of land, inheritance, generations, multiple wives etc. etc. Africa discusses under the tree. Jesus taught along the road… together we learn. Lecture style is minimal. This increases our retention and understanding and hopefully practice.
So the 2 courses coming up are: 1. African Christianity and 2. Theology of Generosity.

The goal of VSMA is to help all followers of Christ to firstly recognise their full-time calling, and to then equip them in doing what God has called them to do in whatever sector of society they have been assigned.

Africa has rich theological resources that help bring biblical perspectives often missed when viewed through a Western lens. The Bible’s cultural worldview is actually closer to the African worldview than that of the West, so our task is to make the most of Africa’s rich theological resources as an essential contribution to theology as a whole.

Our teaching model is interactive/exploratory as opposed to lecture.

Each subject is normally covered in one week, providing the option of joining the school at any stage of the curriculum, with the exception of subjects requiring pre-requisites.
It is possible to take any of the courses for credit or audit.

Certificate (Swahili) 15 subjects - 11 theology/ministry + 4 wholistic subjects (Conservation agriculture, legal advocacy for women and children, Trauma Training, First Responders, Business as Mission)

Diploma (English) 20 subjects – 15 theology/ministry + 5 wholistic subjects (see above)
